CES and E3 2016

Program Manager - Microsoft

Events Summary:

The two largest (and my favorite) consumer events on the WWRSM rhythm of the business were CES and E3. Microsoft leveraged these events for launch announcements, opportunities to celebrate our fans, and as an opportunity to meet with key retail partners from around the world.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is a key global event in the gaming industry and takes place in Los Angeles, CA around mid-June. All major players like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo make their next title and console announcements at this event. E3 was a great opportunity for us to get our global teams and partners together to pitch products, plans and network with one another.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), like E3, but was focused on non-gaming consumer technology. Microsoft no longer uses it for new tech announcements, and has a minimal showroom floors experience, but it is an opportune time to meet with retail and OEM partners to discuss plans and network.

My Role:

I've worked on both of these events in many different capacities as I moved around Microsoft. Primarily my time working on E3 & CES was with the Executive office for Worldwide Retail Sales and Marketing. In my role, I was responsible for managing partner meetings, partner engagement opportunities, partner experiences, internal event communications, on-site logistic and planning, executive presentations, and any preliminary networking events, parties or dinners that would take place on location.
